Procedure for registering a business in Germany
Registration of a company in Germany takes place in five stages:
  • 1
    Drawing up an agreement to open a company. The agreement on the establishment of a company contains information about the founders, capital, distribution of shares of the company between the founders, information about the legal address of the company
  • 2
    Signing a memorandum of association in the presence of a sworn notary in the country. The notary must prepare documents for depositing capital into the company account
  • 3
    Opening a temporary company account in Germany to deposit the capital
  • 4
    Entry of the company into the German Trade Register. Also at this stage, the company must be registered with the Office of Business Activities, the tax office and obtain the status of a VAT payer
  • 5
    Opening a permanent bank account
To open a company bank account in Germany, the director of the company must meet one of the following requirements:
  • be a citizen of the European Union
  • have a residence permit in Germany
  • have a permanent residence status in any EU country
It should be noted that it is impossible to complete the company registration procedure remotely. A personal visit is necessary to open a temporary company account, sign the memorandum of association and deposit the capital. The company registration takes 4-8 weeks.
