First of all, the founder needs to decide how to register a company: remotely or in person.
In case of personal visit, the director must notarize their signature. This can be done remotely at the Bulgarian consulate at the place of residence, after which the document is translated and certified by the Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In case of remote procedure, it is necessary to obtain a notarized power of attorney to open savings and current accounts.

2-4 days after registration, the company is entered into the trade register. In Bulgaria, companies do not receive certificates, however, the director may receive a certificate of the current status of the company with a register stamp.

Nine stages of registration of a business in Bulgaria:

1. Checking and confirming the company name
2. Preparing and filling out the necessary documentation
3. Opening a temporary bank account for depositing authorized capital
4. Notarization of signatures of all founders on registration documents
5. When opening a company remotely, sending the signed documents to Bulgaria for translation
6. Payment of mandatory duties and fees, submission of documents to the Trade Register of Bulgaria
7. Company registration
8. Sending documents to the founder by courier, or their delivery in Sofia
9. Opening a bank account

To register a company, the following data and documents are necessary:

• Company name
• Company founder details (scanned copy of passport, place of residence); if the founder is a foreign legal entity, then constituent documents and a certificate of current status no older than 3 months (for example, for the Russian Federation: INN, OGRN, original extract from the Unified State Register of Legal Entities with a seal). Documents must be translated, notarized and legalized by the Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
• Planned board member details, if they are not a founder
• Amount of the authorized capital
• Type of company activity

Typically, Bulgarian companies are used:

• As European trading company
• To obtain a residence permit in Europe
• As an agent
• As a holding company
• For successful business in the European Union
